Online Virtual Assessment Class: 30 minutes
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Students will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Students must have the physical ability to complete 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin on the floor and should have completed this course before.
Live Virtual Assessment Class: approximately 30 minutes
Self-paced Online Pre-learning: approximately 30 minutes
This online CPR express course will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
All Live Virtual Classrooms are held via Microsoft Teams and are scheduled in AEST. Daylight savings times are different. Please check your states time zone to avoid being late to class.
Virtual Classroom Links will be sent to you via email. Please log in to your virtual classroom 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure your microphone and audio are working correctly.
Late arrivals will not be accepted after 5 minutes of the scheduled class start time.
This course requires online pre-learning to be completed.
All pre-learning must be completed at least 24 hours before attending your scheduled live virtual assessment class.
Students who do not complete their online pre-learning will not be admitted into their live virtual assessment class.
This course requires the use of a Training Kit to complete the Virtual Assessment Class.
Training Kits are sent via Australia Post. Please ensure you leave enough time for delivery of the Training Kit to arrive before your scheduled live Virtual Assessment Class.
Training Kits are to be returned to us using the provided return satchel within 2 Business Days of your completed virtual assessment class.
Late returns will incur in a $200.00 late fee.
Assessments will include a mixture of knowledge tests and practical tasks.
You will be required to complete 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin on the floor.
All practical assessments must be completed in front of your webcam. Your trainer must be able to see you at all times during your assessment class.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon successful completion of this course and return of the Training Kit.
Statement of Attainments are issued by our partner RTO ABC First Aid during business hours Monday - Friday.
Statement of Attainments are not issued on QLD Public Holidays or Weekends.
Once a training Kit has been dispatched no refund will be issued.
All cancellations made 24 hours or more before a scheduled virtual assessment class will receive a partial refund of course fees minus a $25.00 Administration Fee.
Students who do not complete their pre-learning will forfeit their course costs and will be required to rebook and pay for their course in full minus a 20% discount.

Statement of Attainment is valid for 12 months. We recommend updating your CPR annually.

A Training Kit is sent to your home or workplace for you to use in your Online CPR Live Virtual Assessment class once payment has been received.
Attend your Live Virtual Assessment Class via Microsoft Teams led by one of our friendly and experienced trainers and complete practical assessments in front of your webcam.
Pack up the Training Kit and place it into the provided return satchel.
Take it to your local Australia Post outlet for return delivery to us within 2 business days of your completed Live Virtual Assessment Class.
Upon successful completion of your course and return of the
Training Kit you will be issued with a Nationally Recognized
Statement of Attainment by our partner RTO ABC First Aid.

CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. It is an emergency procedure of manual chest compressions and rescue breaths, performed to help save a person’s life who is in cardiac arrest.
A cardiac arrest is when your heart stops beating. This means that your brain and vital organs are starved of oxygen; you become unconscious and stop breathing or do not breathe normally. A cardiac arrest is a medical emergency.
Your heart's electrical system controls the rate and rhythm of its pumping. A cardiac arrest is usually caused by an electrical malfunction in your heart’s electrical system that causes your heart to stop pumping.
No, a cardiac arrest and a heart attack are not the same, but a heart attack can lead to a cardiac arrest.
During a heart attack, an artery supplying blood to the heart muscle gets blocked. This starves part of the heart muscle of oxygen and causes symptoms like chest pain/discomfort – but the person is usually still conscious and breathing.
During a cardiac arrest the heart stops pumping blood around the body and to the brain. The person will fall unconscious, they won’t respond to you, and they will stop breathing or will not breathe normally.
Both a heart attack and a cardiac arrest are medical emergencies, so you should call 000 immediately and follow the instructions of the operator. For a cardiac arrest this will include performing CPR immediately.
When a person is in cardiac arrest, their heart can not pump blood to the vital organs and the rest of the body. By performing CPR, you are taking over the role of their heart and lungs, pumping blood and oxygen to their vital organs.

Doing chest compressions is tiring. If bystanders are present, guide them to take turns performing CPR every 2 minutes.
If you feel uncomfortable giving rescue breaths where there is blood present, then you can do hands only CPR.
